Whether with Massive Attack or on his own albums, Tricky’s raw and rasping voice helped define trip-hop in the ‘90s. Now up to his ninth long-player, 2010’s Mixed Race, the man otherwise known as Adrian Thaws has still got plenty to say. The Bristol legend is bringing his visceral live show back to den Atelier in Luxembourg. Mixed Race is the most immediately appealing album Tricky has released in… well, maybe ever. Musically his magpie’s eye takes influence from the UK, Jamaica, the US, North Africa and France. There’s a wealth of experience distilled within as Tricky approaches twenty years of recording; yet he remains as vital as ever. He sets out his motivation early with the opening track Every Day, and then proceeds with narration and temptation, reflection and perception, mischief and misbehaviour.
