Leftfield’s first album Leftism has been declared the ‘Greatest Dance Album Of All Time’ in a poll of British top DJs in 1996, while its timeless mix of ribcage-shaking dub, grandiose techno, and futuristic house splendour still sounds like it was made yesterday, redrawing the borders for dance music. The band pioneered a radical hybrid of dub and house and breaks (long before anyone had invented big beat). The British duo made electronica’s assault on America a possibility. The current album Rhythm & Stealth is setting the standards of the whole genre once again.
