The solo debut from Bloc Party singer/guitarist Kele Okereke pushes boundaries with a blend of raw rock and energetic electro-pop. Kele is giving Bloc Party a break and he has dropped his surname to release an album that cherry-picks the best elements of the current dance scene – garage, distorted electro, house – and moulds them around some of the best songs of Okereke’s career so far. The Boxer is loose-limbed, electronic yet human and, most importantly, full of the experimentation and genre-blending Kele always claimed to love.
