Eagles of Death Metal is an American rock band from Palm Desert, California, founded in 1998 by best friends Jesse Hughes and Joshua Homme. The group has included a wide range of other musicians that appear on the band’s studio albums and live shows. EODM’s current touring lineup includes the ever-present Hughes, Jennie Vee on bass, Leah Bluestein on drums, and Scott Shiflett on guitar. Despite their band name, Eagles of Death Metal is not a death metal band and is intended to be humorous. With a sound that's a combination of “bluegrass slide guitar mixed with stripper drum beats and Canned Heat vocals," and a frontman in Hughes who is known for his over-the-top stage histrionics and evangelistic interaction with his fans, the band’s live performances are a sight to be seen.
