ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Macy Gray… one of the most sensual and husky voices of the black funk, soul and R’n’B solar system! Back in the limelight in 2009 with the funky Slap A Bitch. The wonders of Macy Gray are multifarious. By turns ferocious and vulnerable, seductive and schemey, she appears an artist with range and ambition, not to mention a complex emotional history that informs everything she does. And it’s this appearance, so awesome and appealing, that helps this classically trained pianist, former screenwriting student, and single mother of three keep a healthy distance from those who would tell her who she is. Miss Gray also acts and works for charity these days, has her own clothing line as well as a school. But locally we know her best from stimulating hits such as I Try, Why Didn’t You Call Me, Ghetto Love and When I See You… Once you’ve experienced her live show, you know what soul-funk should sound like! Macy Gray? A must see!
